‘어와나(Awana)’는 ‘부끄러울 것이 없는 인정된 일꾼(Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed)’ 이라는 뜻으로, 디모데후서 2장 15절의 말씀을 영어 성경 (KJ Version)의 첫 글자를 따서 만든 이름입니다. 어와나 클럽은 어린이들에게 복음전도를 하여 제자화시키는 것이 주 사명입니다. 휄로쉽교회는 지난 3월 8일 수요일부터 4살에서 11살까지의 어린이를 대상으로 어와나 클럽을 시작했습니다. 이 나이대의 어린이들은 특히 하나님의 말씀에 영향을 잘 받으며, 그들이 성인이 되었을 때까지 그 영향이 미친다는 것이 여러 조사들을 통해 나타났습니다. 휄로쉽교회의 어와나 클럽은 성경암송을 통해 강하고 젊은 기독교인들을 만들어내려 합니다.

  수요일 오후 7시 30분부터 초등학교 학생들은 워쉽센터에서 준비된 게임시간을 가집니다. 그리고 커버넌트 채플에서 예배와 교제시간을 갖고, 핸드북 시간에는 성경구절을 배우고 암송합니다.

   어린이들은 어와나 클럽에서 지적으로 자극받는 도전적이고 흥미있는 시간들을 가지게 될 것입니다. 어와나 클럽은 클럽에 오는 모든 어린이들이 유니폼을 비롯한 여러 상들을 받을 수 있도록 적극적인 참여를 권장하고 있습니다.

  모든 어와나 클럽 어린이들은 핸드북 시간에 첫 번째 책을 공부합니다. 한 명의 선생님 밑에 4~6명의 어린이들이 함께 있습니다. 성경구절을 암송한학생은 유니폼을 받게 됩니다. 그리고 그 다음 단계부터는 유니폼에 붙일 스티커나 패치를 받게 됩니다. 이러한 상 제도는 어린이들을 낙담시키기보다는 자신의 속도에 맞춰서 성공적으로 성경구절을 암송할 수 있도록 도와줄 것입니다.

  교제시간은 음악을 중심으로 이루어집니다. 물론 주중에 적용할 말씀도 전합니다. 어린이들은 이 시간에 자신의 이야기나 간증을 나누기도 합니다.

  게임시간은 유치원에서 2학년까지의 어린이들로 구성된 ‘스팍스(Sparks),’ 3학년에서 5학년 어린이들로 구성된 ‘T&T(Truth & Training)’로 나누어집니다. 30분간의 게임시간동안 어린이들은 새로운, 그러나 약간은 도전적인 게임들에 자유롭게 참여합니다. 게임시간을 통해 어린이들은 협동심을 배우고 또한 개인적인 승리감도 맛보게 됩니다.

  가장 어린, 어린이그룹인 ‘커비(Cubbies)’는 성경을 즐겁게 배우게 됩니다. 커비 어린이들은 성경구절을 암송하고 집에서 부모님과 함께 교재를 공부하도록 되어 있습니다. 성경적인 가정교육을 실천하는 것입니다. 커비 어린이들도 역시 예배와 교제의 시간을 가집니다. 커비 그룹의 파란색 유니폼은 어린이들이 그룹에 속해 있다는 소속감을 줄 것이고, 어린이들에게 하나님의 지식을 사랑하는 것을 가르쳐 줄 것입니다. 커비 베어(Cubbie Bear)와 러브 램(Luv E. Lamb) 인형들이 아이들에게 간단한 성경 이야기를 전해주기도 합니다.

  As boldly stated in 2 Timothy 2:15, AWANA CLUB takes “Approved Workman Are Not Ashamed” as the motto to teach children strong Christian values of discipleship and evangelism. New Covenant Fellowship Church began AWANA Club for children between ages four to 11 on Wednesday, March 8, 2006. Studies prove that this age group is particularly influenced by God’s word and can impact their adult life in the future. NCFC’s AWANA CLUB stands to build young and strong Christians by implementing memorization of the Scripture.

  Each Wednesday night, starting at 7:30 pm, elementary school children come to enjoy games of all varieties around the Game Circle in the Main Sanctuary, Worship and Council time in the Covenant Chapel and Handbook Time, where they train to learn by heart several memory verses.

  AWANA CLUB makes it challenging, exciting and intellectually stimulating for the children. All kids that come to AWANA are encouraged to earn merits, including their uniforms. All new AWANA clubbers begin with their first Entrance Booklet during their handbook time. During handbook time, we have approximately one leader for every 4~6 clubbers. Once the memory verse is memorized, the student earns their uniform and continues to pass each section to acquire each sticker or patch for his or her uniform. This merit system is not to discourage children, but to encourage them to achieve success on their own tempo.

  Council Time stimulates learning and focus on music, as well as their mid-week Bible message. During this time, children are encouraged to participate in sharing their stories or testimonies.

  Game Time is broken down from younger kindergarten to second graders, also known as Sparks, to third grade to fifth graders, Truth & Training or T&T clubbers. At each 30-minute session of games, children are free to participate in new and somewhat challenging and active games. Game Time teaches children the importance of team work, as well as the need for individual victories.

  The youngest clubbers, Cubbies, learn to associate fun with learning about the Bible. The Cubbies learn to memorize verses and are encouraged to work on their workbooks with their parents at home to stimulate a family-based education of the Bible. Cubbies also have a worship and council time. The blue Cubbies’ uniforms bring unity to the group and teach them the love for knowledge of God. Cubbie Bear and Luv E. Lamb puppets also come alive during AWANA CLUB to present simple Bible stories to the kids.
