“Stop This Nonsense”
Galatians 5:7-15
I. The Only Thing That Matters
Faith
Faith that expresses in love (vv. 6, 13-14)
II. Who Cut In? (v. 7)
It’s not from God (v. 8)
It will be contagious (v. 9)
III. Why I Am Confident?
My own example (v. 11)
God’s judgment (v. 10)
My own opinion (v. 12)
IV. One More Time: You Are Called To Be Free (v. 13)
Do not use it to indulge in sinful nature (passive)
Serve one another in love (active)
Stop devouring one another
V. Application
There are two kinds of sin: a sin of omission and a sin of commission. The latter is doing something you are not supposed to, but the former is “not doing” something you are supposed to do. Legalists would often point out the latter without stressing the former. Share what you think about this.
In the same light share what you think about the passive response and active response in section IV. You can use your freedom to stay away from committing sin or you can use it to serve others. Which is more powerful, staying away from sin or actively serving others?
Legalists often waste time to argue with people. They certainly did it with Jesus. That results in biting and devouring one another. Do you see this around you? What can you do to keep yourself from this danger?
