나라와 권세와 영광이 아버지께 영원히 있사옵나이다 (마6:13) 

 

·주기도문 마지막 부분에 하나님께 영광 돌리는 송영이 있는 것은 주기도문을 이루어 내실 하나님의 주권을 인정하는 신앙고백이다. 다시 말하면 이 신앙 고백이 있기 때문에 앞의 6가지 기도를 할 수 있는 것이고, 또 응답을 기대할 수 있는 것이다.    *헬라어 원문에는 있는 ‘가르(γάρ)’ = ‘왜냐하면’ 

 

1) ‘나라가 아버지께 있다’는 말은 모든 통치권의 최종 주인이 하나님이시라는 고백이다. ·

· 하나님의 나라가 임하게 되면 성령으로 말미암는 의와 평강과 희락이 나타나게 된다.(롬14:17) ‘의’란 성령의 역사로 십자가의 은혜가 믿어지고, 그 결과 하나님의 의가 나에게 전가되어 전혀 의롭지 않던 내가 의로운 자로 인정되는 것이다. 또한 의는 실제적으로 우리의 삶에 하나님의 거룩이 나타나고 실현되는 것을 포함한다. ·  *‘나라’=‘바실레이아(βασιλεία)='통치'

· 나와 생각이 다른 사람을 함부로 정죄하지 않는 것, 자신의 권리보다 형제의 유익을 먼저 생각하는 것, 공동체를 무너뜨리기보다 세우는 것, 이런 모습들이 실제 삶 속에서 나타나는 것을 말한다.    *자신의 배를 부르게 하던 삭개오의 변화의 원인

· 또 하나님 나라가 누려질 때 나타나는 현상은 평강이다. 세상의 평강은 환경에 의해 좌우되는 것이다. 그러나 주님이 주시는 평강은 환경의 변화에 상관없이 오는 평강이다. 

· 그 모든 일들을 통해 결국은 합력해서 선을 이루어 내실 것을 알기에 평강을 누릴 수 있는 것이다. 오히려 그 일들을 통해 더 성숙하고 더 온전한 사람이 될 것을 기대할 수 있기 때문이다. 그리고 마침내 그 일을 통해 하나님이 기뻐하시는 일을 감당할 수 있는 능력과 지혜를 가진 사람으로 세우시기 때문이다. 

· 진정한 하나님의 나라는 종말에 완전히 이루어질 하나님의 나라이다. 내 이웃의 구원을 위하여 기도하며 수고하는 자, 정직한 사회를 만들어보고자 삶의 예배를 드리는 자, 그 과정에서 세상의 차갑고 무서운 현실 앞에 눈물을 흘리는 자는 예수님이 다시 오셔서 만물을 새롭게 하시는 완성의 날이 속히 오기를 구할 것이다.     *오스왈드 스미스의 천국에 대한 고백

 

2) 권세가 아버지께 있다는 말은 그 통치를 이루실 능력이 하나님께 있음을 고백하는 것이다. 

· 하나님은 다스릴 권리만 가지신 분이 아니라, 그 뜻을 역사 속에서 실제로 성취하실 능력을 가지신 분이라는 말이다. 만일 그런 하나님께 무엇인가를 구하면서 ‘하나님께서 이런 일을 하실 수 있을 지 없을 지는 모르겠지만, 한번 구해 봅니다’ 하는 자세로 기도한다면 그것은 정말 모욕적인 기도가 된다.    *‘권세’ = ‘두나미스(δύναμις)’ = 실행할 수 있는 능력

· 육신의 질병이나 정신적인 고통, 영적인 침체로부터 자유로워질 수 있도록 예수의 이름으로 선포할 때 귀신의 세력이 물러가고 질병이 낳는 역사가 나타난다.(사53:5)   *찬송가 268장 보혈 찬송의 능력  

· 물론 바울처럼 아무리 기도해도 육신의 질병을 낫게 하지 않으실 수도 있다. 또 하나님이 일하시는 때와 우리가 생각하는 때는 다르기도 하다. 그 과정에서 우리로 하여금 인내를 배우게 하시고, 끝까지 우리를 겸손하게 낮추시려고 그렇게 하실 때도 있다. 그러나 먼저는 정말로 권세를 가지신 주님께서 하실 것을 굳게 믿고 눈에 보여지는 상황이나 내가 느끼는 감각에 마음을 빼앗기지 않을 수 있어야 한다. 

 

3) 영광이 아버지께 있다는 말씀은 오직 하나님만 영광받으셔야 한다는 말이다. 

· ‘하나님의 영광’은 하나님의 부요하심이 외적으로 드러나고 나타나는 것‘을 말한다. 하나님의 부요하심 가운데 최고의 부요하심은 죄인이었던 인생들이 하나님의 자녀가 되어 영원한 생명을 얻게 되는 일이다. 

· ’하나님께 영광 돌린다‘는 말은 나를 통해 그 하나님의 부요하심이 나타나게 되는 것을 말한다. 나를 통해 하나님의 자녀 출생의 일들이, 새 예루살렘 건설이, 다시 말하면 세계 선교의 일들이 일어나는 것이다.

· ’하나님의 영광을 나타내는 일은 아멘을 통해 이루어진다. 주기도문의 맨 마지막은 ‘아멘’이다. ‘아멘’ 이란 원래 ‘진실, 믿음’ 이라는 의미가 있다. 기도 끝난 다음 우리가 ‘아멘!’하고 화답하는 것은 ‘지금까지 기도한 것이 진실임을 믿습니다. 기도한 대로 이루어질 것을 믿습니다’ 는 뜻이다. 

· 그리스도인들이 이 땅에 살면서 할 말은 딱 두 마디면 된다. 하나는 ‘주님이 하셨습니다!’ 이고, 또 하나는 ‘주님이 하실 것입니다!’ 이다. 떡이 없어서 광야에서 낮은 자의 삶을 살게 하신 것도 하나님이 하신 일이다. 떡 없으면 죽는 줄 아는 이스라엘 에게 하늘에서 만나를 내려 하나님이 먹게 하신다는 것을 경험하게 하시기 위함이었다. 

· 또 앞으로의 일에 대해 걱정할 필요도 없다. ‘주님이 하실 것입니다!’ 이 말만 하면 된다. 죽음으로 모든 것이 끝나는 것 아니고, 우리는 죽음으로 영광스러운 하나님 나라에 들어간다. (고후1:20)

For Yours Is the Kingdom and the Power and the Glory Forever

(Matthew 6:13)

 

· The doxology at the end of the Lord’s Prayer, which gives glory to God, is a confession of faith that acknowledges God’s sovereignty to fulfill the very prayer we have just prayed. In other words, because this confession of faith stands at the end of the prayer, we are able to offer the six petitions that come before it, and we are also able to expect God’s answer.

*The Greek original includes “gar” (γάρ), meaning “for” or “because.”

 

1) “The kingdom belongs to the Father,” is to confess that God is the final owner of all authority and rule.

· When the kingdom of God comes, righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit appear. (Romans 14:17) “Righteousness” means that, through the work of the Holy Spirit, we come to believe in the grace of the cross, and as a result, God’s righteousness is imputed to us, so that we who were not righteous at all are counted as righteous. Righteousness also includes the actual manifestation and realization of God’s holiness in our daily lives.

*“Kingdom” = “basileia” (βασιλεία) = “rule” or “reign.”

· It means that such things begin to appear in real life: not recklessly condemning those who think differently from us, considering the benefit of a brother or sister before claiming our own rights, and building up the community rather than tearing it down. *The reason for Zacchaeus’s transformation, though he had once lived to fill his own stomach.

· Another reality that appears when the kingdom of God is enjoyed is peace. The peace of this world depends on circumstances. But the peace the Lord gives is a peace that comes regardless of changing circumstances.

· We can enjoy peace because we know that, through all these things, God will ultimately work all things together for good. In fact, through those very things, we can expect to become more mature and more complete. And in the end, God establishes us as people who have the ability and wisdom to carry out the work that pleases Him.

· The true kingdom of God is the kingdom that will be fully realized at the end of time. Those who pray and labor for the salvation of their neighbors, those who offer their lives as worship in order to build an honest society, and those who shed tears before the cold and frightening realities of this world will long for the day of completion to come quickly, when Jesus returns and makes all things new.   *Oswald Smith’s confession about heaven.

 

2) “The power belongs to the Father,” is to confess that God has the power to accomplish His rule.

· This means that God is not only the One who has the right to rule, but also the One who has the power to actually fulfill His will in history. If we ask such a God for something with the attitude, “I do not know whether God can do this or not, but I will try asking anyway,” then that becomes a truly dishonoring prayer.*“Power” = “dunamis” (δύναμις) = “the ability to carry something out.”

· When we proclaim in the name of Jesus so that people may be set free from physical illness, mental suffering, and spiritual depression, the forces of demons retreat and the work of healing from disease appears. (Isaiah 53:5)

· Of course, as in Paul’s case, there may be times when God does not heal a physical illness no matter how much we pray. Also, God’s timing and the timing we expect are often different. Through that process, God may teach us endurance and keep us humble to the end. Nevertheless, first of all, we must firmly believe that the Lord who truly has power will act, and we must not allow our hearts to be captured by what we see with our eyes or by what we feel with our senses.

 

3) “The glory belongs to the Father,” means that only God must receive glory.

· “The glory of God” refers to the outward revelation and manifestation of God’s richness. Among all the riches of God, the greatest richness is that sinners become children of God and receive eternal life.

· To “give glory to God” means that the richness of God is revealed through me. Through me, the birth of God’s children takes place; the building of the New Jerusalem takes place; in other words, the work of world mission takes place.

· Then how do we reveal the glory of God? The answer is found in the final word of today’s passage. The very last word of the Lord’s Prayer is “Amen.” The word “Amen” originally carries the meaning of “truth” and “faith.” When we usually respond, “Amen!” at the end of a prayer, it means, “I believe that what has been prayed until now is true. I believe that it will be fulfilled according to the prayer.”

· As Christians live on this earth, there are only two things they need to say. One is, “The Lord has done it!” The other is, “The Lord will do it!” It was God who caused them to live a humbled life in the wilderness without bread. He did this so that Israel, who thought they would die without bread, might experience that God could feed them by giving them manna from heaven.

· There is also no need to worry about what lies ahead. We only need to say, “The Lord will do it!” Death is not the end of everything. Through death, we enter the glorious kingdom of God. (2 Corinthians 1:20)

1) Explain what it means that the kingdom, the power, and the glory belong to the Father.
