   우리에게 일용할 양식을 주옵소서 (마6:11) 

 

·공산주의는 인간의 이성을 최고의 덕목으로 여기고, 인간의 내재한 자원을 동원해서 유토피아를 건설할 수 있다고 생각한 것이다. 그러나 자신의 유익을 좇고자 하는 타락한 본성을 가진 인간들은 스스로의 힘으로는 공산주의가 추구하는 이상향을 만들어낼 수 없다. 그리고 이것은 오직 하나님의 초월적인 은혜에서만 가능하다는 것을 의미한다. 

 

1) 하나님께서 우리의 모든 삶을 주관해달라는 기도를 하라는 것이다. 

·양식은 사실 삶의 가장 기본적인 것이다. 따라서 삶의 가장 기본적인 것 조차 하나님께 구해서 살아야 한다면 다른 것은 말할 것도 없는 것이 된다. 결국 주기도문이 ‘일용할 양식’을 구하라고 한 것은 양식 뿐 아니라, 모든 것을 하나님께 의지해서 사는 자세를 갖추라는 뜻이다.

·아담의 타락은 한 마디로 이야기하면 자기 자신이 스스로의 안녕과 행복을 확보해 보겠다는 것이다. 그러나 결과는 결핍이요 죽음이었다. 마찬가지다. 우리의 삶의 질을 증진하고자 하는 노력의 결과들이 항상 우리의 삶을 확대시켜주는 것은 아니다.  안타깝게도 사람들은 자신의 삶이 행복하지 않고 만족스럽지 못한 이유를 물질의 부족 때문이라고 생각한다. 그래서 오늘도 신앙인들 조차 어찌 하든지 돈을 많이 벌려고 한다. 그러나 그런 생각이 바로 이스라엘 백성들을 우상 숭배에 빠지게 만들었던 맘모니즘이다. 

·오늘날 신앙인들 조차 맘모니즘에 빠져 있는 이유는 정확히 구약 백성들이 우상 숭배에 빠져 있는 것과 같은 이유다. 맘모니즘은 돈과 물질을 하나님처럼 의지하는 태도다. 그러나 예수님께서는 땅에 쌓아둔 재물이 나의 삶을 지켜주지 못할 것을 말씀하셨다.(마6:19)

·무엇보다도 재물은 단순한 소유물이 아니라 인간의 마음을 지배하는 주인이 될 수 있다. 그래서 재물을 좋아하고 의지하는 사람은 결코 하나님을 온전히 섬길 수 없다.(마6:24) 안타깝게도 오늘날 많은 그리스도인들이 맘모니즘에 빠져 살아가고 있다.     *눅 18장의 부자 청년과 19장의 삭개오의 차이

·주변에 참 많은 그리스도인들이 있지만 그들의 삶이 변화하지 않는 것은 그들이 예수님을 구원자로 믿지 않기 때문이 아니라, 예수님을 믿지만 예수님이 자신의 삶의 완전한 주인으로 모셔지지 않았기 때문이다. 신앙 생활은 하지만 여전히 나 중심으로 신앙 생활을 하기 때문에 결정적인 순간에는 하나님 편에 서는 것이 아니라 맘몬을 따르게 되기 때문이다.     *중국 충칭의 대학 교회 부흥의 비결

 

2) 우리에게 필요한 육신의 것들을 달라고 하되 필요 이상의 것을 구하지 말라는 기도이다. 

·기독교는 물질을 부정적이거나 신앙과 위배되는 것으로 생각지 않는다. 물론 하나님의 나라에 속한 신령한 것을 중하게 여기지만, 동시에 하나님이 지으신 이 세계와 인간의 육체도 귀하게 여기고 있다. 그러므로 육신을 위한 양식도 구하라고 주님은 가르치고 계시다. 

·다만 이것들을 구할 때 필요 이상의 것을 구하지 말고 만족하는 삶을 살아야 함을 가르치신 것이다. ‘일용할 양식’ 이란 우리가 구해야 할 양식이 매일의 삶에 족한 것이어야 한다는 것을 말한다. 미래의 양식을 걱정하거나, 필요 이상의 것을 원하지 말라는 것이다.    *출애굽기 16장의 만나 이야기

·재물을 많이 모으고 적게 모으고가 중요한 것이 아니라 재물을 올바로 사용하면 된다. 분명 그리스도인이 맞다면, 하나님의 나라에 대한 비전도 없고, 생각도 없는 데 열심히 노력한다고 돈은 벌려지지 않는다. 하나님께서 이 땅에 살면서 재물을 모을 수 있도록 하시는 이유는 하나님의 나라에 그 물질이 쓰여지도록 하시기 위함이기 때문이다. 

·하나님은 지금도 우리 안에서 일하고 계신다고 한다. 그 일은 우리에게 소원함을 주시고, 그 소원을 이루실 능력을 주시는 일이다. 가장 먼저 해야 할 일은 나를 통해 하나님이 이루시기 원하시는 비전을 발견하는 일이다. 내가 하나님의 나라를 위해 무엇을 하기를 원하시는 지 나에게 거룩한 소원을 주시라고 구해야 한다. 그러면 하나님은 여러분 안에 소원을 주실 것이고, 그 소원을 이루어낼 능력도 주실 것이다.    

*’소원을 두고 행하게 하신다(καὶ τὸ θέλειν καὶ τὸ ἐνεργεῖν)’=’소원함과 능력을 주신다.

 

3) 마지막으로 영의 양식을 구하라는 것이다. 

·우리의 육신이 양식을 먹지 않으면 생명을 유지할 수 없는 것 처럼 우리의 영혼도 영의 양식을 먹지 않으면 생명력을 유지할 수 없다. 다만 그 양식은 매일 매일 필요하다.    *썬다 씽의 ‘생명의 양식’ 이야기 

·영의 양식을 가려서도 안된다. 골고루 먹어야 한다. 음식이란 입맛이 있든 없든 여러 가지를 골고루 먹어야 건강하다. 하나님께서 알아서 주실 것이므로 주신 것에 대해 고맙게 받아야 한다. 다소 쓴맛이 나더라도 내게 유익한 것을 주신다는 생각으로 받아야 한다.    *데살로니가가 모범적인 교회였던 이유(살전2:13)

·초대교회 교인들은 누구든 자신의 것을 자기의 것이라 주장하지 않았다고 한다. 각 사람의 필요를 따라 나누어 주었다고 한다.(행2:43,44) 그들이 그런 삶을 살 수 있었던 이유는 철저히 하나님께 자신들의 삶을 맡겼기 때문이다. 

·우리의 삶은 철저히 하나님께 달려있다. 그것을 분명히 알고 있다면 우리는 더 이상 세상의 것들을 가지고 우리의 삶의 안녕과 만족과 기쁨을 찾으려 해서는 안된다. 오직 주님께 모든 것을 맡기고, 그분께 필요한 것들을 구해야 한다. 

 

 

학습 및 적용 문제:

1) 일용할 양식을 구하라는 말씀은 어떤 의미가 있는 것인지 세가지를 간략하게 설명해보라. 

2) 철저히 하나님께 맡기며 살아가지 못함으로 해서 내 삶에 나타나는 연약한 모습들은 어떤 모습들이 있는 지 솔직히 나누어보고, 오늘 말씀을 들으면서 새롭게 결단한 것들이 있으면 나누어보라. 

Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread (Matthew 6:11)

 

Communism regarded human reason as the highest virtue and believed that, by mobilizing humanity’s internal resources, people could build a utopia. Yet human beings, possessing a fallen nature that seeks their own benefit, cannot create the ideal society that communism pursues by their own strength. This means that such a reality is possible only through the transcendent grace of God.

 

1) This is a prayer asking God to govern every part of our lives.

Bread is, in fact, the most basic necessity of life. Therefore, if even the most basic necessities of life must be sought from God, then everything else must also be entrusted to Him. In the end, when the Lord’s Prayer teaches us to ask for daily bread, it means not only that we should ask for food, but that we should live with an attitude of depending on God for everything.

Adam’s fall can be summed up in one sentence: he tried to secure his own life and happiness for himself. But the result was lack and death. The same is true today. Our efforts to improve the quality of life do not always truly renew our lives. Sadly, people often think that the reason their lives are not happy or satisfying is because they lack material things. So even believers today try by any means to earn more money. But that very mindset is the mammonism that led the people of Israel into idolatry.

The reason many believers today fall into mammonism is exactly the same reason the people of the Old Testament fell into idolatry. Mammonism is an attitude that depends on money and possessions as though they were God. But Jesus said that the treasures stored up on earth cannot protect our lives (Matthew 6:19).

More than anything else, wealth is not merely something we possess; it can become a master that rules the human heart. Therefore, a person who loves and depends on wealth cannot fully serve God (Matthew 6:24). There are many Christians around us, but the reason their lives do not change is not because they do not believe in Jesus as Savior. Rather, it is because although they believe in Jesus, they have not received Him as the complete Lord of their lives. They live a religious life, but because their faith still centers on themselves, at decisive moments they do not stand with God but follow mammon instead. *The secret of revival in a university church in Chongqing, China

 

2) This is a prayer asking for the physical things we need, but not asking for more than we need.

Prayer does not regard material needs as inherently negative or contrary to faith. Of course, the spiritual things that belong to the kingdom of God are precious. Yet at the same time, God also values this world He created and the human body He made. Therefore, the Lord teaches us to ask for bread for our physical lives.

However, He also teaches us that when we ask for these things, we must not ask for more than we need, but live a life of contentment. “Daily bread” means the food we ask for should be what is sufficient for each day’s life. It means we should not worry about tomorrow’s bread or seek more than what is necessary.   *The story of manna in Exodus 16

What matters is not whether we gather much or little wealth, but whether we use wealth rightly. If someone is truly a Christian, then it is not right to work hard merely to make money while having no vision or concern for the kingdom of God. The reason God allows us to gather material resources while living on this earth is so that those resources may be used for His kingdom.

God is still working within us today. That means He gives us both the desire and the ability to fulfill that desire. The first thing we must do is discover the vision God wants to accomplish through us. We must ask God to give us a holy desire for what He wants us to do for His kingdom. Then God will give us that desire and also the ability to fulfill it. 

 

3) Finally, this is a prayer asking for spiritual food.

Just as our bodies cannot maintain life without physical food, our souls cannot maintain spiritual vitality without spiritual food. But that food is needed every single day. *The story of Sundar Singh and the bread of life

Nor should we pick and choose spiritual food. We must eat it in a balanced way. Food keeps us healthy when we eat a variety of things, whether they suit our taste or not. Since God knows what we need and gives it to us, we must receive what He gives with gratitude. Even if it tastes somewhat bitter, we should receive it with the conviction that God is giving us what is beneficial for us. *Why the Thessalonian church was a model church — 1 Thessalonians 2:13

It is said that the believers in the early church did not claim that their possessions were their own. They shared with one another according to each person’s need. The reason they could live that way was because they had completely entrusted their lives to God.

Our lives depend entirely on God. If we clearly understand this, we must no longer try to find security, satisfaction, or joy in the things of this world. We must entrust everything to the Lord alone and ask Him for what we need.
