부족한 것 없고, 두려울 것 없고, 잘못되는 것 없다

 

 

 

 

   부족한 것 없고, 잘못되는 것 없고, 두려울 것 없다 (창37:2-11)

 

· AI 시대는 인간들이 더 이상 일하지 않아도 풍요롭게 살아갈 수 있는 보편적 고소득의 시대가 될 것이라 한다. 그러나 만약 그렇게 된다 할지라도 어떤 초지능 AGI도 인간의 타락한 본성은 어찌할 수 없다. 따라서 세상은 악한 본성들이 적나라하게 표출되어 더욱 고통스럽고 혼란스러운 세상이 될 수도 있다.

 

1) 요셉의 삶은 백성된 우리 삶을 하나님께서 어떻게 이끌어 가시는 지를 보여주고 있다.

· 야곱의 편애와 요셉의 얄미운 행동은 형들의 미움과 시기를 불러일으키기에 충분했다.(4절) 그런 가운데 하나님은 요셉으로 하여금 해와 달과 열한 별이 요셉에게 절을 하는 꿈을 꾸게 하셨다. 

·  그러나 이후 요셉의 삶은 꿈과 정반대였다. 요셉은 형들의 시기로 죽임을 당한 후 구덩이에 던져질 뻔했다.(20절) 그러나 그런 가운데서도 하나님께서는 요셉의 큰 형 르우벤을 통해 요셉을 지키셨다.(21절)

·  결국 요셉은 형들에게 직접 죽임을 당하지는 않았지만 구덩이에 던져졌다. 그가 구덩이에서 자연적으로 죽게 하려고 한 것이었다. 그러나 이번에도 하나님은 마침 애굽에 물건 팔러가는 상인들이 그곳을 지나가게 하셔서 요셉을 살려내신다. 은 20 세겔에 요셉을 상인들에게 팔았다.(28절) 

*예수 그리스도를 예표한 요셉 (상인들이 향품과 유향과 몰약을 가져옴, 은20에 팔림) 

· 요셉은 바로의 시위 대장이었던 보디발의 집에 종으로 팔리게 되었고, 그곳에서 주인의 아내의 유혹을 물리친 일로 억울한 누명을 쓰고 감옥에 갇히게 되었다. 그러나 요셉은 이 일로 감옥에서 바로의 술 맡은 관원장을 만나게 되었고, 나중에는 그를 통해 바로의 꿈을 해석하게 되어 총리가 되었다. 

· 결국 그 모든 과정에서 요셉은 고통스럽기도 하고, 억울하기도 하고, 답답한 시간들을 보내야 했지만, 그 모든 과정에도 하나님의 섭리가 작용하고 있었음을 보여준다. 

 

2) 우리도 신실하신 하나님을 신뢰하는 가운데 매 순간 낙심하지 않고, 묵묵히 앞으로 나아가야 한다.

· 하나님은 요셉이 형들 한테 죽임을 당하려 할 때 큰 형 르우벤을 통해 살려지게 하셨다. 또 구덩이에 던져져 죽임을 당할 뻔 했지만 마침 애굽으로 가는 상인들을 통해 애굽에 종으로 팔려가게 하셨다. 애굽의 종으로 팔려가서도 바로의 시위 대장인 보디발의 집에 팔려가게 하셨다. 또 주인의 아내의 유혹을 피한 일 때문에 감옥에 갇히게 되었지만, 오히려 그 일 때문에 애굽의 총리가 되었다. 

· 오늘 우리도 절대로 붙들어야 할 것은, 하나님이 우리로 하여금 살아가게 하는 삶의 과정 속에 설사 고난이 있다 할지라도, 때로는 그 고난이 까닭 없고 억울한 고난 같아 보일지라도, 너무나 답답한 삶의 과정을 지나고 있다 할지라도, 하나님은 그 모든 과정 속에서 결코 우리를 포기하지 않으시며 함께 하시는 가운데, 결국 선하신 뜻을 이루신다는 것이다. 그럼으로 우리가 할 수 있는 일은 오직 그 하나님을 경외하며 신뢰해 드리는 것 밖에는 없다.(전3:14) 

· 우리는 광야의 이스라엘 백성들 처럼 항상 부족하다는 말을 많이 하지만,  오늘도 내 삶이 부족함 없는 이유가 있다. 그분이 나의 목자이시기 때문이다. 지금은 온통 부족한 것 투성이지만, 그분이 필요한 때에 정확하게 우리를 푸른 초장과 쉴만한 물가로 인도하실 것이기 때문이다. (시23:1,2)

· 우리가 사망의 음침한 골짜기를 지나게 되고, 원수가 내 앞에 서성이지만, 두려워할 것 없는 이유는 그분이 지팡이와 막대기로 나를 지키시고, 원수 앞에서 큰 상을 차려 주실 것이기 때문이다. (시23:4,5)

· 아무리 우리가 잘못된 선택을 할 지라도, 하나님께서는 그 모든 것들을 통해 우리의 영혼을 소생시키고 결국 우리를 의의 길로 인도하신다. 그러니 잘못될 일이 없다.(시23:3)

· 우리 모두는 쉽고 빠르고 안전한 길을 원한다. 굳이 돌아가는 길을 원하지 않는다. 특별히 계속해서 목적지가 훤히 보이는 길을 원한다. 그러나 의의 길은 가장 빠른 길은 아니지만 가장 안전한 길이다. 문제가 없는 길은 아니지만 목자가 함께 가는 길이다. 그래서 결국에는 잘못되는 일이 없게 하는 길이다. 

 *‘오늘의 고통은 내일의 계획의 일부이다.’(C. S. 루이스) 

· 지금 내가 있는 자리가 기대했던 자리가 아닐 수 있다. 그러나 이 길이야 말로 하나님이 나를 더욱 온전하게 세우시기 위해 선택하신 의의 길일 수 있다. 나에게는 너무나 낯선 이 경로가 하나님께서 정말로 보여주고 싶은 곳으로 인도하는 길일 수 있다. 어쩌면 현재 여러분에게 열리지 않는 문이 여러분이 알지 못하는 또 다른 구원의 길로 인도하는 문일 수 있다.(사55:9)

· 오늘도 하나님은 우리를 알 수 없는 길로, 가 보지 않은 길로 인도하시지만, 그 끝은 우리를 향한 선하신 뜻을 이루시는 의의 길이 될 것이다. 그리고 정말로 감사 할 수 있는 것은 그 과정에서 하나님의 보존하시고 통치하시는 섭리가 항상 있다는 것이다. 

· 하나님은 내가 겪은 가슴 아프고 고통스러웠던 일들이 오히려 나로 하여금 새로운 삶을 살아가게 하는 원동력이 되게 하신다. 그래서 우리는 오늘도 내 실력을 믿는 것이 아니라, 연약한 나를 끝까지 붙드시고 인도해가시는 하나님의 선하심을 믿을 수 있다. 그리고 그렇기에 오늘도 설교의 제목 처럼 ‘나는 부족함 없고, 잘못되는 것 없고, 두려움 없다’고 외치며 묵묵히 자신의 길을 갈 수 있다.

 

학습 및 적용 문제:

1) 요셉이 겪은 인생의 고비 때 마다 신실하신 하나님께서 요셉의 삶을 인도하셔서 자신의 약속을 이루어 가셨던 과정을 설명해보라. 

2) 나의 삶 속에서 신실하신 하나님의 선하심은 어떤 것이었는 지 나누어보고, 이제 다시 하나님의 선하심을 기억하며 나의 삶을 새롭게 결단해보라. 

 

No Lack, Nothing Goes Wrong, Nothing to Fear (Genesis 37:2–11)

· People say the age of AI will become an era of universal high income in which humans can live in abundance without having to work. Yet even if that happens, no superintelligent AGI can fix humanity’s fallen nature. Therefore, the world may become even more painful and chaotic, as evil instincts are exposed more nakedly.

 

1) Joseph’s life shows how God leads the lives of His covenant people.

· Jacob’s favoritism and Joseph’s irritating behavior were more than enough to ignite his brothers’ hatred and jealousy (v. 4). In the midst of that, God gave Joseph a dream in which the sun, the moon, and eleven stars bowed down to him.

· But afterward, Joseph’s life looked like the exact opposite of that dream. Because of his brothers’ jealousy, he was nearly killed and almost thrown into a pit (v. 20). Yet even then, God protected Joseph through his oldest brother Reuben (v. 21).

· In the end, Joseph was not killed directly by his brothers, but he was thrown into the pit. Their intent was to let him die there naturally. But once again, God providentially arranged for merchants traveling to Egypt to pass by, and Joseph was rescued. Joseph was sold to the merchants for twenty shekels of silver (v. 28). *Joseph as a type of Jesus Christ (the merchants carried spices, balm/incense, and myrrh; Joseph was sold for twenty pieces of silver).

· Joseph was sold as a slave into the house of Potiphar, the captain of Pharaoh’s guard. There, after resisting the seduction of his master’s wife, he was falsely accused and imprisoned. Yet through that imprisonment Joseph met Pharaoh’s chief cupbearer; later, through him, Joseph was brought to interpret Pharaoh’s dreams and became prime minister.

· In that entire process, Joseph had to endure painful, unfair, and suffocating seasons—yet it reveals that God’s providence was at work through every stage.

 

2) We too must keep trusting the faithful God, refusing to collapse in discouragement, and moving forward step by step.

· When Joseph was about to be killed by his brothers, God saved him through Reuben. When he was thrown into a pit and faced death, God used passing merchants headed to Egypt so that Joseph would be sold and taken there as a slave. Even in Egypt, God guided the path so Joseph was sold into the house of Potiphar, the captain of the guard. And though Joseph was imprisoned because he fled his master’s wife’s advances, that very event became the pathway by which he rose to become Egypt’s prime minister.

· What we must hold onto today is this: even if there is suffering in the process of life God has given us, even if that suffering seems groundless and unfair, even if we are passing through an unbearably frustrating season—God never abandons us. He is with us through it all, and in the end He accomplishes His good purpose. Therefore, the one thing we can do is to fear Him and trust Him (Ecclesiastes 3:14).

· Like Israel in the wilderness, we often say we are always lacking. Yet there is a reason my life is not lacking even today: He is my Shepherd. Even if my present is filled with deficiencies, He will lead me at the right time to green pastures and still waters (Psalm 23:1–2).

· Even if I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, and enemies prowl before me, I have no reason to fear, because He protects me with His rod and staff, and He prepares a great table before me in the presence of my enemies (Psalm 23:4–5).

· Even if we make wrong choices, God revives our soul through all of it and ultimately leads us in paths of righteousness—so, in the end, things do not truly “go wrong” (Psalm 23:3).

· We all want an easy, fast, and safe road. We do not want detours—especially we want a path where the destination is always clearly visible. Yet the path of righteousness is not always the fastest, but it is the safest. It is not a path without problems, but it is the path where the Shepherd walks with us—therefore it becomes the path that ultimately prevents things from ending in ruin.    *“Today’s pain is part of tomorrow’s plan.” (C. S. Lewis)

· The place you stand in now may not be the place you expected. But this road may be the very path of righteousness God chose to build you into a more whole person. This unfamiliar route may be the road God is using to lead you to what He truly wants to show you. Perhaps the door that is not opening for you right now is a door that leads to another way of salvation you do not yet see (Isaiah 55:9).

· Even today God leads us on roads we cannot predict—roads we have never traveled—yet the end will become a path of righteousness that fulfills His good will for us. And what we can be deeply thankful for is this: throughout the process, God’s preserving and reigning providence is always at work.

· God can turn the heartbreaking and painful events I have endured into the very driving force that empowers me to live a new life. Therefore, even today, we do not trust our own competence; we can trust the goodness of God who holds our weakness to the end and continues to lead us. And that is why, like the title of this message, we can keep walking our road quietly while declaring: “I lack nothing, nothing goes wrong, and I have nothing to fear.”

1) Explain the process by which the faithful God guided Joseph’s life at each critical turning point and fulfilled His promises.

2) Share how you have experienced the faithful goodness of God in your own life, and now—remembering that goodness—make a renewed commitment for your life today.
