  그래도 다시 주를 바라보아야 할 이유 (창12:10-20 )

  

· 세상은 당장에 결과가 없거나 실력이 없으면 버린다. 그러나 하나님은 실력이 부족해도, 심지어 죄를 지어도 결코 버리지 않으신다. 고쳐 쓰실 지언정 포기하지 않으신다. 하나님의 자녀가 되었다는 것은 그런 의미에서 놀라운 축복이다. 

 

1) 아브라함이 약속을 받은 후 가장 먼저 한 일은 약속의 땅 가나안을 떠나는 일이었다. 

· 아브람은 그 땅에 기근이 왔을 지라도 하나님께서 때가 되면 알아서 먹이시고 그의 삶을 이끌어 주실 것을 믿고 거기 계속 머물러 있어야 했다. 그러나 아브람은 아직 그런 믿음이 없었다. 어떤 상황에서든 철저히 하나님을 신뢰하는 것이 아니라, 그저 눈에 보이는 대로 말하고 판단하고 행동한 것이다.    *젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅이라고 하는 가나안 땅의 실제

· 애굽에 내려갈 때 심정은 잠시 이 어려운 시기만 피해보자는 의도였을 것이다. 그런데 여기에 함정이 있다. 오늘날 우리도 처음에는 잠시 어려운 때만 피해 보자는 의도로 약속의 말씀을 떠난다. 그러나 지금 생각에는 잠시 이 어려운 때만 넘어가면 다시 좋아질 것이라 생각하지만, 내가 생각한 대로 모든 일들이 잘 되지 않는다. 하나님께서 그런 우리의 불신앙적인 태도를 고쳐주기 위해서라도 내가 지금 도모하는 일이 안되게 하시기 때문이다. 

· 아브라함도 잠시 기근을 피해 간다고 했지만 그가 애굽에 가서 한 짓은 아내를 누이라 속이며 애굽의 바로에게 아내를 팔아먹는 짓이었다. 그 결과 사래는 바로의 시종을 드는 첩이 될 뻔했다. 

 

2)  아브람은 불신앙적인 태도를 취했지만 하나님은 그런 아브라함을 지켜주신다. 

· 하나님께서는 여호와이시기에 자신이 한 약속을 지키시기 위해서라도 아브라함을 보호하셔야 했다. 바로의 집에 큰 재앙을 내리셔서 바로가 아브람의 아내 사래를 취하지 못하도록 막으신 것이다. 이것이 바로 약속에 신실하신 하나님의 열심이고 은혜이다.    *여호와=약속에 신실하신 하나님

· 하나님께서는 인간의 연약함을 아시기에 자기 백성들이 혹여 실수하거나, 심지어 죄를 지을 지라도 그들을 징계는 하실 지언정 버리지는 않으신다. 실력이 없어도, 연약한 모습이 있어도, 심지어 죄를 지어도 택하신 자녀들을 절대 포기하지 않으신다. 오히려 고쳐 쓰시기 위해서라도 자녀들을 지키신다.

· 더구나 하나님은 다시 한번 아브람에게 뜻하지 않은 은혜를 경험하게 하신다. 하나님과의 약속을 붙들지 못하고 육신의 결정을 한 아브람에게 하나님은 과분하게도 그가 애굽을 떠날 때 은과 금이 풍부하게 해주신 것이다. 하나님은 아브람이 그 과정을 통해서 하나님의 무조건적인 사랑과 은혜를 다시 한번 깨닫게 하시려는 것이었다. 

· 그리고 이런 하나님을 경험한 아브라함은 하나님에 대해 더 깊이 이해하게 되었고, 그리고 그 은혜가 아브라함으로 하여금 이후에는 어떤 절망적인 상황에서도 신앙적인 결정을 하게 만들었다.

3) 어떤 절망적인 상황과 반복적인 실패 속에서도 여전히 바라보아야 할 분은 예수 그리스도이시다. 

· 예수님은 가난한 자에게 복음을 전하실 뿐 아니라, 포로된 자를 자유케 하시고, 눌린 자를 자유케 하시기 위해 오셨다. (눅4:18)  * ‘포로된 자(αἰχμαλώτοις/아익스말로토이스)’=‘전쟁에서 포로된 자’, ‘눌린 자(τεθραυσμένους/테 트라우스 메누스)’=‘산산 조각 나서 부서진 자’

· 예수님은 그저 나쁜 사람들 용서해주시기 위해서 오신 것이 아니다. 영적 전쟁에서 보기 좋게 패배해서 무너져 있는 사람들, 스스로에 대한 실망감과 심지어 죄책감에 휩쌓여서 스스로 영적 울타리를 치고 그 안에 들어 앉아 있는 사람들을 회복시키기 위해 오셨다. 

· 안타깝게도 오늘날 사람들은 자신이 이런 처지에 있는 것을 전혀 눈치채지 못한다. 그러니 맨날 불평 스럽고, 맨날 모든 것이 못마땅하고, 그래서 맨날 투덜거리는 말을 하게 되고, 맨날 염려와 두려움에 가득해서 사는 것이다. 

· 영적 전쟁의 포로 상태에 있는 사람들에게 유일한 해결책은 포로된 상태에서 자유케 하시기 위해 오신 예수님 뿐이다. 영적 전쟁의 패배자로 살아가지 않으려면 다시 주님을 바라보아야 한다. 지금까지도 아무런 변화가 없다고 푸념하지 말고 그래도 다시 주님을 바라 보아야 한다. 

*사방이 다 막혀 있을 때 그 상황에서 벗어날 수 있는 유일한 길은 위로 솟구치는 것

· 다만 회복과 해방으로 나아가는 길의 출발점은 항상 자신이 이미 전쟁 포로임을 인식하는 것에서 부터 이다. 회복은 다른 사람이나 상황을 탓하는 것에 종지부를 찍는 것으로 부터 시작된다. 

· 신앙의 하수들은 말이 많다. 반면 신앙의 고수들은 말이 적다. 왜냐하면 사람한테 아무리 말로 해도 상황은 달라지지 않는다는 것을 알기 때문이다. 그래서 고수들은 사람에게 말을 많이 하는 대신, 하나님께 기도를 많이 한다. 오늘날 나의 삶에 놀라운 기적 같은 역사가 나타나지 않고 있다면, 그것은 내가 지금 쓸데 없는 기도를 하고 있거나, 아니면 기도의 분량을 채우지 않았기 때문이다. 

    *응답 받는 기도의 두 가지의 요소 (정확도와 분량)

 

학습 및 적용 문제:

1) 아브라함의 불신앙적인 태도에 대해 하나님은 어떻게 반응하셨는 지 말해보고, 이를 통해 얻는 신앙적 교훈은 무엇이었는 지 나누어보자. 

2) 다시 한번 주님을 바라보겠다는 결단 가운데 나를 새롭게 하면서 당장 이번 주 부터 내가 구체적으로 행동해야 할 것이 무엇인지 나누어보라. 

The Reason We Must Still Look to the Lord Again (Genesis 12:10–20)

· The world discards you if you show no results right away or lack ability. But God never abandons you, even if you lack ability, or even if you sin. He may discipline and reshape you, but He never gives up on you. To become a child of God is, in this sense, an astonishing blessing.

1) Abraham’s first action after receiving God’s promise was to leave the land of promise, Canaan.

· Even though famine struck the land, Abram should have stayed, trusting that God would feed him and lead his life in due time. But Abram did not yet have that kind of faith. Instead of trusting God completely in all circumstances, he spoke, judged, and acted only according to what his eyes could see.

· When he went down to Egypt, his intention was likely just to escape the difficult season for a while. But here lies the trap. Even today, we often step away from God’s promises with the same thought: “Just for a little while, until this hardship passes.” But in reality, things rarely turn out the way we imagined. God may even hinder our plans to correct our unbelieving attitude.

· Abram went to Egypt only to avoid the famine, but ended up lying that Sarai was his sister and, effectively, selling his wife to Pharaoh. As a result, Sarai almost became Pharaoh’s concubine.

2) Even though Abram acted in unbelief, God still protected him.

· Because the LORD is faithful to His promises, He had to protect Abram to fulfill what He had spoken. God struck Pharaoh’s household with great plagues so that Pharaoh could not take Sarai. This is the zeal and grace of the promise-keeping God.

· God knows human weakness. Even when His people stumble or even sin, He may discipline them but will not abandon them. No matter how weak, lacking, or sinful, His chosen children will never be forsaken. Instead, He guards them so He can restore and use them again.

· Furthermore, God caused Abram to experience unexpected grace once again. Though Abram had made a fleshly decision instead of holding onto God’s promise, God still allowed him to leave Egypt with great wealth of silver and gold. Through this, God wanted Abram to realize once more His unconditional love and grace.

· Having experienced this God, Abram came to a deeper understanding of Him. And this grace empowered Abram to make faith-based decisions even in future times of despair.

*Abram yielded the better land to Lot and later risked his life to rescue him when he was captured (Gen. 13:9; 14:14,16).

3) In any hopeless situation or repeated failures, the One we must still look to is Jesus Christ.

· Jesus came not only to bring good news to the poor but also to set the captives free and release the oppressed (Luke 4:18).

*’Captives’ (αἰχμαλώτοις / aichmalōtois) = prisoners of war, ‘Oppressed’ (τεθραυσμένους / tethrausmenous) = those shattered into pieces

· Jesus did not come simply to forgive “bad people.” He came to restore those who have utterly lost the spiritual battle—those crushed by disappointment in themselves, weighed down by guilt, and trapped within self-made walls of despair.

· Tragically, many today do not even realize they are in this condition. This is why their lives are full of complaints, dissatisfaction, grumbling words, worry, and fear.

· For those imprisoned in spiritual captivity, the only solution is Jesus, who came to set the captives free. If we do not want to live as defeated people in spiritual warfare, we must look to the Lord again. Do not lament that nothing has changed until now—still, look to Him again. When all directions are blocked, the only way out is upward.

· The starting point of recovery and freedom is to recognize that we are already captives of war. True recovery begins when we stop blaming others or our circumstances.

· Immature believers talk a lot. Mature believers speak little—because they know that words alone never change people. Instead of talking endlessly to others, they pray much to God. If no amazing breakthrough is happening in our lives today, it is either because we are praying aimless prayers, or because we have not yet filled up the measure of prayer.

*Two key elements of prayer that receives answers: accuracy and measure.
