복음의 제사장으로 사는 삶 (롬15:14-19)

 

·복음은 반복적으로 선포되어야 한다. 우리의 죄악된 본성은 틈만 나면 세상을 향해 달려가게 하고, 욕심을 따라 살게 하기 쉽기 때문이다. 오늘 우리 모두도 그리스도의 복음을 다시 들을 때 마음을 새롭게 하고, 잠시 어둠에 사로 잡혀 있었을 지라도 다시 빛으로 나올 수 있게 된다.

 

1) 바울도 복음은 반복적으로 들려져야 한다고 말한다.

·나름대로 성숙한 교회였던 로마 교인들에게, 바울은 그들이 늘 들어서 알고 있었을 복음을 다시 전하겠다고 한다. 

·복음이란 한 번 들으면 끝이 아니다. 우리는 그 뻔한 말씀을 순간 순간 잊고 살기 때문이다. 그래서 나도 모르게 세상 일에 몰두하게 되고, 또 그러다가 뜻대로 되어 있지 않은 현실 앞에 금방 어두워지기 때문이다. ‘주님이 다 하신다’는 것을 뻔히 알면서도 나도 모르게 주님 앞서서 하다가 지치고 시험들고 낙심하게 되는 것이다. 

·하나님은 그럴 때 마다 우리의 귀에 복음의 말씀이 다시 들려지게 하신다. 그래서 그 뻔한 말씀들이 우리의 가슴을 새삼스럽게 요동치게 하고, 우리로 하여금 뜨거운 눈물로 회개하게 만들고, 우리의 심령이 새로워지게 한다. 이것이 복음의 능력이다. 

 

2) 바울이 전달하고자 했던 복음은 복음의 은혜를 입은 성도들 자신이 복음의 제사장으로 부름받았다는 것이다.

·’복음의 제사장’이란 하나님을 알지 못하던 이방인들이 하나님을 알고 그분께 순종하는 자가 되게 하는 일을 하는 것이다. 이 일은 하나님이 가장 기뻐하시는 일이다.(17절) 

·또한 사람이 할 수 있는 가장 보람되고 기쁨을 가져다주는 일이다. 이 세상의 어느 것도 영원토록 우리를 만족시키지는 못하지만 그리스도의 생명을 전하는 일은 이 세상에서 뿐 아니라 영원한 세상에서 까지 기쁨을 주는 일이다.      *틈만 나면 복음을 전했던 최권능 목사

·성도의 인생은 내가 복음의 제사장으로 살고자 할 때 길이 나오게 되어 있다. 목사가 되어도 좋고 비즈니스를 해도 좋다. 그러나 인생 사는 목적은 결국 복음의 제사장으로 사는 것이어야 한다. 

·많은 경우 인생 길이 막히는 이유는 이런 사명을 무시하고 살기 때문이다. 하나님께서 이 사명을 보다 분명히 보여주시기 위해서이다. 복음의 제사장으로 살아갈 때 진정한 기쁨이 있으며, 그럴 때 하나님의 살아계심을 체험하게 되고, 예수님을 통해 주신 축복의 가치를 알게 하시려는 것이다. 

 

3-1) 복음의 제사장으로 사는 삶은 복음의 말씀을 전함으로 시작된다.

 ·복음을 받아들이고 받아들이지 않고는 내 말의 설득력에 달려있지 않다. 우리는 그저 전하기만 하면 된다. 하나님께서 예비해 놓으신 심령이면 아무리 어눌하게 그리스도를 전해도 받아들일 것이요, 반대로 아무리 논리적으로 설명을 해도 아직 때가 이르지 않았거나 택함을 받지 못한 분이라면 싸움만 나게 된다.(고전2:4,5)

·오늘 우리가 복음의 제사장이 되어 복음을 전하는 일을 두려워하지 않아도 되는 이유는 그 일은 우리의 지헤로운 말로 되는 것이 아니라 성령이 역사하심으로 되는 일이기 때문이다. 

·그 복음을 전하다 어떤 힘든 상황이 올 것 같지만 사실은 그 힘든 일이 벌어지지도 않고, 또 벌어졌다 해도 기가 막힌 방법으로 그 어려운 상황들이 넘어가게 하시기 때문이다.          *고린도에서의 바울(행18장)  

 

3-2) 바울은 복음을 말로만 아니라 삶으로 보여주었다.

·바울은 복음을 전할 때 항상 건강하고 모든 것이 잘되는 상황 속에서 한 것은 아니었다.(고후12:7) 그러나 바울의 연약함이 오히려 바울로 하여금 더욱 하나님 앞에 겸손하게 만들었다. 그리고 더욱 놀라운 것은 자신의 연약함 때문에 하나님의 강하신 능력을 체험하게 되었다.(고후12:9,10)

·오늘 우리는 그리스도를 위해 일하고 있으니까 제발 능욕받지 않게 해주시고, 궁핍해지지 않게 해주시고, 박해 받는 일이 없게 해달라고 구하지 않는가? 그러나 바울은 그런 약한 자신의 모습 가운데서 오히려 강하게 일하시는 하나님의 능력을 체험했다. 

·이것이 육체의 연약함이 있어도, 삶이 여유롭지 않아도, 기쁨으로 복음을 전할 수 있는 이유이며, 또 그럴 때 놀라운 하나님의 역사들이 나타난다. 실제로 바울은 자신이 그런 연약함 가운데 복음을 전하고 있을 때 기적적인 역사가 있었다고 고백한다.

·복음을 전하고자 할 때 생기는 어려운 일들은 오히려 하나님의 하나님 되심이 증거되게 한다. 그러니 그런 일들 앞에 낙심할 필요 없다. 바울은 오히려 자신을 핍박하는 자들을 축복했으며, 박해를 받았어도 굴하지 않았다. 이것이 진정한 복음의 제사장의 모습이다.     *수요기도회에서 받는 은혜

Living as Priests of the Gospel (Romans 15:14-19)

·The Gospel must be repeatedly proclaimed. Our sinful nature drives us to constantly run toward the world and live according to our desires. Even today, when we hear the Gospel of Christ again, our hearts are renewed, and even if we’ve been momentarily trapped in darkness, we can come out into the light once again.

 

1) Paul also emphasizes that the Gospel needs to be heard repeatedly.

·Even though the Roman Christians were a relatively mature church, Paul tells them that he will proclaim the Gospel to them once more, a message they already knew well.

·The Gospel is not something that is heard once and finished. We forget those familiar words in everyday life, and so, without realizing it, we become absorbed in worldly affairs, and when things don’t go as expected, we quickly become discouraged. Even though we know that "the Lord does everything," we often move ahead of Him, becoming weary, tempted, and disheartened.

·In such times, God causes the message of the Gospel to resound in our ears once again, so that the familiar words stir our hearts, making us repent with heartfelt tears and renewing our spirits. This is the power of the Gospel.

 

2) The Gospel Paul was conveying was that those who have received the grace of the Gospel are called to live as priests of the Gospel.

·A "priest of the Gospel" is someone who helps the Gentiles, who did not know God, to come to know Him and to obey Him. This is the work that pleases God most (v. 17).

·It is also the most rewarding and joyful work a person can do. Nothing in this world can satisfy us forever, but sharing the life of Christ brings joy not only in this world but also in the eternal world.    *Pastor Choi Kwon-nung, who preached the Gospel 

·The life of a believer will find its purpose when we live as priests of the Gospel. It doesn’t matter if you become a pastor or run a business. Ultimately, the purpose of life should be to live as a priest of the Gospel.

·In many cases, the reason people face obstacles in life is that they live ignoring this calling. God shows us this calling more clearly, so that when we live as priests of the Gospel, we will experience true joy, and through this, we will come to understand the value of the blessings given through Jesus Christ.

 

3-1) Living as priests of the Gospel begins with preaching the Gospel.

·Whether or not people accept the Gospel does not depend on how persuasive our words are. We simply need to proclaim it. If someone’s heart has been prepared by God, even if we speak clumsily, they will accept it. On the other hand, no matter how logically we explain it, if it is not the right time or if someone has not been chosen, only conflict will result (1 Cor 2:4-5).

·The reason we do not need to fear preaching the Gospel as priests today is because it is not by our wisdom that it happens, but by the working of the Holy Spirit.

·Even though we may face difficult situations while preaching the Gospel, these difficulties won’t come to pass, and if they do, God will lead us through them in surprising ways.    *Paul in Corinth (Acts 18)

 

3-2) Paul showed the Gospel not just by words but by his life.

·Paul didn’t preach the Gospel only when everything was healthy and going well (2 Cor 12:7). His weakness actually made him more humble before God. What’s even more amazing is that because of his weakness, he experienced the powerful strength of God (2 Cor 12:9-10).

·Today, do we not pray that we won’t be insulted, impoverished, or persecuted for the sake of Christ? But Paul experienced the power of God’s strength precisely in his weakness.

·This is why we can still preach the Gospel with joy, even when our bodies are weak or life is difficult. And when we do, God’s miraculous works will appear. In fact, Paul confesses that while he was preaching the Gospel in his weakness, miraculous things happened.      *The result of Eutychus' death (Acts 20)

·The difficulties that arise when we preach the Gospel actually serve to prove that God is truly God. Therefore, we shouldn’t become discouraged by such difficulties. Paul, instead of being angry at those who persecuted him, blessed them. He didn’t give up even when persecuted. This is the true image of a priest of the Gospel.
