모든 일들을 통해 선을 이루시는 하나님

롬8:28-30

 

·하나님의 말씀을 잘못 이해하게 되면 오히려 우리의 신앙이 성숙해지는 것이 아니라 시험에 들게 되고, 잠시 동안이라도 하나님을 떠나 있게 되는 수가 있다.  *아전인수의 뜻

 

1) 하나님은 우리의 모든 일들 가운데 선하신 뜻을 이루시는 분이시다.

·롬8:28의 말씀 또한 가장 많이 알려져 있으면서도 가장 많이 오해되는 말씀 중의 하나인데, 이 말씀의 뜻은 하나님이 우리 삶에 벌어지는 모든 일들을 사용하셔서 택하신 자들이 예수님을 많이 닮은 겸손하고 온유한 아들들이 되게 하시고자 한다는 것이다. 

·하나님은 이런 목적을 이루기 위해 필요하다면 우리에게 힘든 상황을 주시기도 하시고, 심지어는 그런 고통스러운 상황이 좀처럼 해결되지 않고 계속되게 하실 수도 있다. 물론 그 반대로 기적같은 역사로 우리의 삶의 문제를 해결하시기도 하신다.

 

2-1) 하나님의 아들이 되는 일은 미리 정하신(예정; predestination)일로 시작된다.

·예정(predestination)의 개념은 단순히 시간적인 개념으로만 이해하게 되면 안된다. 시간의 제약을 받는 인간의 이성을 가지고, 시간의 제약을 받지 않으시는 하나님의 세계의 일인 ‘예정’을 이해하려 한다면, 당연히 혼란스러울 수 밖에 없다. 자칫 숙명론(fatalism)에 빠질 수 밖에 없다. 

·숙명론이란 ‘하나님께서 우리를 구원하시기로 작정하셨으면, 우리는 아무 것도 안해도 된다’는 것이다. 그러나 이런 태도는 마치 어린 아이가 우물에 빠지려고 하는데, ‘살아야 할 놈이면 하나님이 알아서 살게 하실 것이니까’ 하고 아무런 조치를 안하는 것이나 마찬가지이다. 

·예정의 진정한 의미는 하나님의 선택은 우리의 선한 행위의 결과가 아니라는 것을 의미한다.(롬9:11) 그래서 이 은혜를 늘 기억하는 사람은 잠시 사는 세상에서 좀 억울하고, 감당하기 힘들고, 심지어는 고통스러운 삶을 살게 될지라도 감사할 수 있다. 

·또한 우리의 구원이 절대적으로 확실한 것이라는 의미이다. 그럼으로 흔들림 없는 구원의 은혜를 받은 것을 확신하며, 두려워하지 말고 기쁨 가운데 살아가라는 말이다.

 

2-2) 두 번째 단계가 부르심(소명; calling)의 단계이다. 

·하나님은 우리가 감당할 수 없을 것 같은 일을 겪게 하심으로 우리를 당신의 아들들로 부르신다. 이것을 위해 어떤 사람은 심각한 질병에 걸리기도 하고, 어떤 사람은 경제적인 파산 상태에 이르기도 한다.     *이민와서 신앙 생활을 하게 되는 이유

·하나님이 우리를 부르시는 과정에서 그런 고통스러운 상황이 오기도 하는 이유가 있다. 사람들은 자신의 삶의 모든 일들이 잘 되고, 남 부러울 것이 없는 상태에서는 절대로 하나님을 찾지 않기 때문이다.(롬1:2)

·우리들 중에도 오랫동안 교회는 다녔지만 진정 예수님을 만나지 못하고 거듭나지 못한 분들도 있다. 하나님은 그런 분들의 삶에도 위기를 주신다. 그럴 때 자신의 연약함을 고백하며 주 앞에 나갈 때 하나님은 우리의 영혼을 진정으로 거듭나게 하시고 새롭게 하실 것이다. 

·주변 사람들이 그런 위기 가운데 처해 있다해도 그저 염려하고 두려워만 하지 않아도 되는 이유는 그들이 처한 상황이 그들을 은혜가운데 부르시는 것일 수 있기 때문이다.

 

2-3) 세 번째는 의로운 자가 되는 일(칭의; justification)이다. 

·부르심을 입은 자들은 이제 예수 그리스도를 믿음으로 받아들이고 나면 하나님 앞에 의로운 자로 인정받는다. 더 감사한 것은 한번 의씨 집안으로 시집온 자는 어떤 일이 있어도 결코 다시 죄씨 집안으로 쫒겨 가지 않는다는 것이다. 

·그럼으로 자신의 변화되지 않은 모습에 지나치게 죄책감을 갖거나 구원의 은혜를 놓치게 될 까봐 염려할 필요는 없다. 사람에 따라서 습관을 버리는데 시간이 좀 걸리는 사람들이 있다. 그럴 때 먼저는 분명한 구원의 확신이 필요하다. 

·하나님은 우리가 의롭다고 인정을 받게 하실 뿐 아니라, 실제로 의로운 자로 살아가게 하는 일도 하고 계신다. 이것을 ‘성화(sanctification)’라고 한다. 경제가 어려워지고, 건강이 나빠지는 일들이 결코 우연이 아닐 수 있다. 그 일들을 통해 우리로 하여금 자신의 죄악된 삶에서 돌이키게 하시기도 한다.

God Who Works All Things for Good

Romans 8:28-30

 

If we misunderstand God's Word, rather than maturing in our faith, we may fall into trials and even temporarily drift away from God. 

1)God Accomplishes His Good Purpose in All Things

The verse in Romans 8:28 is one of the most well-known, yet often misunderstood verses. The meaning of this verse is that God uses all the events that happen in our lives to shape His chosen ones into humble and gentle sons who resemble Jesus.

To achieve this purpose, God may allow us to face difficult situations, and at times, He may allow painful circumstances to persist without resolution. Of course, in other situations, He may intervene with miraculous acts to esolve the issues in our lives.

2-1) Becoming the sons of God begins with His predestination.

The concept of predestination should not be understood merely as a temporal concept. Trying to comprehend predestination—a work of God's timeless realm—through human reasoning, which is bound by time, can only lead to confusion. One might even fall into fatalism.

Fatalism suggests that if God has already decided to save us, then we don’t need to do anything. However, this attitude is akin to a child about to fall into a well, thinking, "If he is meant to survive, God will save him," and not taking any action to prevent the fall.

The true meaning of predestination is that God's choice is not a result of our good deeds (Romans 9:11). Therefore, remembering this grace allows us to be thankful, even if we live lives that are difficult, unfair, or painful for a time.

It also signifies the absolute certainty of our salvation. This means that we should live confidently, assured of the unshakable grace of salvation, without fear, and with joy.

2-2) The Second Step is the Calling (Vocatio)

God calls us to be His sons through experiences that seem unbearable. For some, this might involve serious illness; for others, it may mean financial ruin.   *The reason people move abroad and live out their faith

There is a reason why such painful situations arise in the process of God’s calling. People who are comfortable and have no lack in their lives rarely seek God (Romans 1:2).

Even among us, there are those who have been attending church for a long time but have not truly met Jesus or been born again. God often brings crises into the lives of such people. In those moments, when they confess their weakness and approach God, He will truly renew their souls.

If those around us are facing crises, we don’t need to just worry and fear. It might be the very circumstance through which God is calling them into His grace.

2-3)The Third Step is Being Made Righteous (Justification)

Those who are called and accept Jesus Christ by faith are now recognized as righteous before God. What is even more wonderful is that once someone is married into the righteous family, no matter what happens, they will never be cast out again.

Therefore, we don’t need to live with excessive guilt over our untransformed state or fear losing God’s grace. Some people may take time to break old habits. In such times, first, we need to have firm assurance of our salvation.

Not only does God declare us righteous, but He also enables us to live righteously. This process is called sanctification. Economic hardships and health issues are not random; they may be the means by which God turns us away from sinful lives.
