Be Blessed...to Bless Others
(Philippians 2:1-4)
Rev. Mark Kosko
I. Receive the Blessing
Through Christ, be encouraged
Through Christ, be comforted
Through the Holy Spirit, be united with the Lord
II. Experience the Inward Transformation
Christ’s love manifested and expressed through us!
Tenderness and compassion of Christ washing over our old nature
No selfish ambition or vain conceit
Christ can still be preached with envy and rivalry (Phil 1:18) but this is a better way
III. Be a Blessing to Others
Agree and love one another
Work together with one mind and purpose
Don’t store up the blessings but look out for others not just yourself
IV. Reflection
The passage describes how in our relationship with Christ we are raised up and transformed in our hearts and minds in order to serve others and do God’s work. Where are you in this journey?
Self-ambition and a self-confidence bordering on arrogance brings about so-called success in life in work, academics and athletics but how does a Christian survive in that rat-race of a world while also being true to God?
