(4) Only God Can Reveal Himself to Us
(Colossians 2:16-23)
Rev. Mark Kosko
I. The Former Law was merely a shadow of things to come- Jesus Christ! (vv.16-17)
II. Acting religious in order to be seen by others creates separation from God.(vv.18-19)
They became puffed up with their head knowledge rather than drawing closer to the Lord
They lose sight of Christ and think of themselves more highly than they ought.
III. Do not cling to the things of this world in seeking the Lord (vv.20-22)
We apply an intellectual worldly pursuit of God and expect a divine result.
We have Scripture which speaks to God’s eternal truths
Subjecting ourselves to negative harsh deprivation does not restrain us from further sin.
IV. Application:
Non-believers may view converting to Christianity means following rules and giving up so many things. What would you say to that?
What is most important to you in the way you express your Faith and why?
