 I. The Gift (v. 16)
Another Counselor
Parakletos: Advocate 
Another: The Spirit of the Truth (v. 17)
To be with you forever

 II. The Recipient
Exclusive only for believers
Believers: Those who obey Jesus’ command (vv. 15, 21, 23)
Command (Teaching): Love another (John13:34)
The world cannot accept Him
Neither sees nor knows Him (v. 17)
Does not love Jesus (v. 24a)
Will not obey Jesus’ teaching (v. 24b)

 III. The Promise
Will abide In us (Rom 8:9)
Will Not be left as orphans (v. 18) 
Will Live through the resurrection (vv. 19-20)
The Father will love him (v. 21)
God will show Himself (v. 21) Exo 33:12-23
Presence of God (v. 23)
Will teach and remind (v. 26)
Peace (v. 27)

 IV. Application
Jesus wants to make his home in your heart. Do you have the desire to have his presence dwell in you?
What area(s) of your life are you still not completely at peace with? Remember that you don’t have to be troubled or be afraid of anything because the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Therefore, enjoy the peace that he has gifted you through the Holy Spirit.
