(45) A Way, A Truth and a Life not of this World
(John 14:1-14)
Rev. Mark Kosko
I. Jesus prepared a way and a place through his life and death (vv 1-5)
Thomas wanted a logical answer to his logical question
Jesus was the path to a relationship with God.
II. But we spend life mistaking worldly truth for Truth, and worldly way for the Way (vv 6-11)
Philip called Jesus Lord and yet it wasn’t enough proof
A Child, Asleep, a Fool or Wise person
If no faith, at least believe the miracles themselves
III. Faith in Christ leads to Greater things . . . in Christ (vv 12-14)
Do we get to pray in the name of Jesus for anything we want? Or,
Is what we pray for in Jesus’ name allowing the Son to bring glory to the Father?
IV. Application:
What are some examples of the way we pursue truth and enlightenment in our life’s journey? Education? Career? Arts? Physical Achievement?
It’s a fine line between knowing you know and knowing not that you know not? Do you agree?
God is all knowing and almighty. He loves us and knew us before we were. When we pray for something specific, in a way are we telling God we know what’s best for our lives than He does? Do you agree or disagree with this perspective?
