(45) Jesus Christ—the Only Way

(John 14:1-14)

I. Do Not Let Your Hearts Be Troubled (vv. 1-3)

The Disciples’ Fear

Jesus’ Solution

There are many rooms in the Father’s house

He will prepare a place and come back for them

II. Lord, We Don’t Know the Way (vv. 4-6)

“I am the way and the truth and the life.”

“No one comes to the Father except through me.”

III. Father and I are One (vv. 7-10)

If you have seen me, you have seen God.

I am in the Father, and the Father is in me.

IV. You Will Do Even Greater Things (vv. 12-14)

Because the Holy Spirit will indwell you (vv. 16-17)

If you ask anything in my name, I will do it.

So the Father may be glorified

V. Application

Do you indeed believe Jesus is the only way, the truth, and the life? Then can you confidently say you are not pursuing any other way? Would people close to you agree?

Looking back in your life, though you didn’t realize or appreciate it then, are there incidents where you believe God stopped you from taking a path to destruction? How would this realization help you when things do not go your way in the future?

We learned how to pray in “Jesus’ name.”  It means to pray according to His will (i.e. how Jesus would pray if He were in your situation). Now that you understand, how would you pray differently?
