(6) “What the Law Took Away God Provided Through Faith"
(Ruth 3:1-18)
Speaker: Pastor Mark Kosko
I. God works throughout the ages using people in all kinds of circumstances in order to fulfill his promise to us of a Savior.
II. The Law Deprived Naomi and Ruth of a Life
She was destitute under the Law as a widower and could not provide for herself or for her daughters.
She tried to release her daughters from any further obligation- Ruth stayed
They decided to continue without any assurances as to the outcome for them
III. God’s Faithfulness to his Promise Includes Everyone
Ruth was a Moabitess
Ruth was only included in the community by Law as Naomi’s daughter-in-law.
In Christ we are included in God’s community by Faith.
IV. Application Questions:
In a time of crisis do we still praise God and pray a blessing upon others despite our own suffering? What are some other ways we respond?
Do we struggle to discern God’s meaning and purpose in our lives during adversity?
Is it possible establishing God’s Kingdom here on earth may come about at the expense of our own well-being and wants and desires?
