Never Again
- Genesis 8
I. The Magnitude of the Flood
In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, on the seventeenth day of the second month the floodwaters came
All the springs of the great deep burst forth and the floodgates of the heavens opened
Rain fell for forty days and forty nights
The waters flooded the earth for a hundred and fifty days
On the seventeenth day of the seventh month the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat
On the first day of the tenth month the tops of the mountains became visible
By the twenty-seventh day of the second month of the year Noah turned 601 years old, the earth was completely dry
II. God’s Promise to Noah
Never again will I curse or destroy because of man (8:21-22)
Never again will I destroy the earth by the waters of a flood (9:9-11)
Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth (9:1)
This is the sign (9:12-14)
III. Recall the Words of the Prophets (2 Peter 3:1-2)
Know this (2 Peter 3:3)
Don’t try to deliberately forget the Flood (2 Peter 3:5-6)
It is because He doesn’t want anyone to perish (2 Peter 1:9)
Therefore we must look forward to the day of the Lord (2 Peter 3:11-15)
