Hello, my name is Hye Chong Ku and I am Bo Mee’s mother. I’m writing this letter to ask for your help.
Bo Mee is sixteen years old and is from Hawaii. She attends McKinley High School and is a Senior. She is the middle child of my three daughters. She was first diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in the 7th grade. She received intensive chemotherapy for the next 2 years and was in remission during that time. But, after a few months, her Leukemia returned. Bo Mee has a rare kind of Leukemia due to what is called the Philadelphia Chromosome. This type of Leukemia is harder to treat and is easier to relapse. She is currently receiving chemotherapy but it is causing her hip and leg bones to deteriorate. It is making it more difficult for her to walk and move around each day. It’s hard for her to do daily activities, which include going to school, due to the pain.
Bo Mee’s only way of surviving is through a Bone Marrow Transplant. Bo Mee never complains and keeps a confident attitude even though she is hurting inside. She always looks forward to attending Hawaii Hope Mission Baptist Church every Friday and Sunday. She tries to go every week, even when she is feeling tired. She has a strong faith in the Lord and because of Bo Mee, I was also given the opportunity to learn about God. I strongly believe He will help find a matching bone marrow donor to cure Bo Mee. Please help us find a donor. Not only c! an you save Bo Mee’s life, but you can save many others suffering from Leukemia and other blood cancers as well.
On November 6, there will be a bone marrow drive at the New Covenant Fellowship Church located at:
18901 WARING STATION RD
GERMANTOWN, MD 20874
9:30AM-5:00PM
Please help us find donors by campaigning in bone marrow drives for those in need of a match. We all can save lives. Thank you.
